The Difficulties of Colombians to Access Higher Education
Abstract
Higher education, as an essential premise for the cultural, social and scientific development of a country, can be decisive in achieving the objective of someday living in a just and free society. However, the majority of people finish their primary and secondary education, but when it comes time to enter university to pursue a professional career, they face a great difficulty, the scarcity of opportunities and various sociocultural situations in the country hinder the dream of successfully completing a professional career. In this way, it is important to know the most common reasons why students cannot access undergraduate studies, for which government actions regarding the improvement of educational access conditions, the influence of economic conditions, the culturalization of family units, among other aspects, should be investigated.
